Dr. Abe Cherrick was a guest speaker, along with Dan Cohen of the Abuse Deterrent Coalition, on public radio station WAMU, 88.5’s Kojo Nnamdi show discussing “abuse deterrent” formulations for pain medications.

Dr. Cherrick discussed the use of these newly formulated medications as well as the role and commitment pain management physicians have in appropriately managing patients who need opioid medications to manage their chronic pain.

Abuse deterrent formulations involve incorporating mechanisms that prevent crushing the medication for abusive purposes.
