About

Primary Specialties: Pain Management, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine (Board Certified), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Dr. Sohan Nagrani finds great privilege in helping people work toward becoming more functional and having a better quality of life.

In summer 2022, he joined the National Spine and Pain Centers network of practices working to manage chronic pain for patients with comprehensive care including interventional procedures, physical rehabilitation and medication management. “I am excited to bring a wide range of pain treatment options to patients,” he said. “I have a particular interest in neuromodulation which has shown promising outcomes for treatment of more complex pain.”

Virginia Tech served as the site for his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology as well as his Doctor of Medicine at the Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, VA. During his education, Dr. Nagrani worked in research at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute. In-between his degrees, he worked in research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and as a post baccalaureate fellow at the National Institutes of Health National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

After completing an internship in internal medicine at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland, Dr. Nagrani finished a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He concluded two pain management fellowships at the Spine and Pain Institute of New York and Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina respectively. His previous work experience includes serving as an interventional pain management physician at two Washington, D.C. Metro area spine and pain practices.

“I believe in using a patient-focused approach to care with candid, honest conversations in order to provide the best possible treatment curated for the individual and their underlying issue,” he said.

When putting together an individualized comprehensive treatment plan, Dr. Nagrani notes medications can be helpful for the short or long term but varies depending on their needs.

“The best part of this job is hearing how a treatment has positively changed a person’s quality of life,” he said.

Away from the office, Dr. Nagrani enjoys weightlifting and travel.
