About
Primary Specialty:
Pain Medicine, Pain Medicine (Board Certified)
Dr. Raj N. Parekh was drawn to the pain management field through a desire to build long-term relationships with his patients and see their progress over time.
He joined the National Spine and Pain Centers Hagerstown office in August 2019 after completing his pain management fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physiology and neurobiology from the University of Maryland College Park and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed his internal medicine internship at Medstar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore and anesthesiology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Over the past decade, Dr. Parekh has noticed a tremendous surge in technological advancements in the pain management field particularly in neuromodulation. “While no one specific device or technology will work for all patients, steadily growing progress allows many patients to benefit from these technologies,” he said.
Dr. Parekh’s main goal when working with patients is to tailor personalized treatment plans that are specific to their goals and needs. He listens to his patients and uses a multimodal approach for treatment that addresses the pain from various pathways.
“I have the privilege of working along side patients as they move through their journey of chronic pain and ultimately obtain pain relief and improved function,” he said.
In his down time, Dr. Parekh can be found taking part in recreational activities such as playing basketball and tennis.

I’m can only speak for 1 doctor since that is all I have ever seen at this practice but Dr.Parekh has a great bedside manner and is well versed in his field. He took care of me in the emergency room in 2014 when I had my accident that injured my back and I later wound up at his practice by the miracle of God. Dr. Parekh has helped me by utilizing his techniques and knowledge which has allowed me to live a much healthier and happy life which has been real depressing at times. His current staff are very polite and positive in nature which is always uplifting when you step up to the window or sit in the chairs while waiting for your procedure or being escorted back from a procedure. I could go on and on. The roads in that area are currently under construction so if you visit which I recommend if you have back pain leave earlier than you would normally. I’m sure once the roads are completed it will be smooth driving.

I went there to get a second opinion regarding a recommended procedure. The doctor did an excellent job explaining the procedure as well as several less aggressive alternatives. Based on the information provided, I not only decided the procedure was not for me but that I should transfer to National Spine for treatment

The nurse who assisted the Dr. on the day I was there for a pump re-fill was very courteous. The Dr. is the most courteous, professional and cares about getting you relief from your pain. The personalities from check-in through check-out are very nice and helpful. I enjoy being in an office where you don't feel rushed or like the next number in line.
