NSPC Physicians Named “Top Doctors” by Northern Virginia Magazine

National Spine & Pain Centers is proud to announce that our expert physicians, Drs. Abe Cherrick, Rodney Dade, Mayo Friedlis, Assaf Gordon, Sassan Hassassian, Ketan Patel, Marina Protopapas and Robert Wagner have been awarded “Top Doctors” 2016 in the Northern Virginia magazine.

This is a highly regarded listing of outstanding physicians who have received votes from physicians all around the Northern Virginia region and local hospital panels. Congratulations! Abraham Cherrick, M.D.

Dr. Abraham Cherrick is known among his patients and peers as an expert in diagnosing the cause of pain, even in the most complex cases. He is consistently named a “top doctor” in pain management by Washingtonian Magazine and Northern Virginia Magazine. In diagnosing and treating patients, he draws on his more than 30 years of experience with National Spine & Pain Centers. “I came here after my medical residency, and I never left,” said Dr. Cherrick. Rodney Dade, M.D.

Dr. Dade joined National Spine & Pain Centers after serving as an attending physician at the University of Michigan Hospital System and has been a key member of our medical team since 1995. An expert in interventional pain management techniques, he is particularly interested in treating neck, back, and sports-related musculoskeletal injuries. Mayo Friedlis, M.D.

Since joining National Spine & Pain Centers in 1983, Dr. Friedlis has helped expand the practice into the thriving, nationally recognized leader it is today. He is passionate about the science of pain management and committed to delivering the most effective therapies possible to each of his patients. Throughout his 25+ years of experience he has actively enhanced his knowledge and expertise through continuing education, training and research. Assaf T. Gordon, M.D.

Dr. Gordon joined National Spine & Pain Centers from the University of California at Los Angeles, where he completed advanced fellowship training in Pain Medicine. Using sophisticated non-surgical solutions, he diagnoses and treats acute and chronic pain with a comprehensive approach. Sassan Hassassian, M.D.

A seasoned practitioner, Dr. Hassassian joined National Spine & Pain Centers in 2012 after a successful tenure as the Director of the Division of Pain Management at the Center for Advanced Orthopedics & Pain Management in Ashburn, Virginia. Board certified in Pain Medicine as well as in Anesthesiology, Dr. Hassassian earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School, after which he completed an internship in General Surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. Ketan B. Patel, M.D.

Dr. Patel joined National Spine & Pain Centers in 2012 after completing a Fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he was trained to perform the most advanced non-surgical techniques by one of the world’s leading experts in pain management. Marina G. Protopapas, D.O.

Dr. Protopapas joined National Spine & Pain Centers in 2006 with an exceptionally skilled medical background. Her advanced training includes specialized fellowships in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and Pain Management at Harvard Medical School-Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Robert Wagner, M.D.

A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Wagner returned to the area after completing his medical training throughout the state of Virginia.
