Featured Doctor: Pain Management Specialist, Dr. Cheryl Mejia, D.O.

  • Posted On:

Dr. Cheryl Mejia, of the Hagerstown, MD center, brings to her patients a wealth of knowledge in spine and pain issues, including sports-related injuries, and is experienced in many of the latest healing therapies and approaches to chronic pain management.

Dr. Mejia earned her medical degree from the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, where as a student, she was drawn to the school’s mission of serving residents of New York’s Harlem neighborhood. As an avid athlete, fitness and wilderness enthusiast, Dr. Mejia is well-versed in sports injuries. She understands how difficult those injuries can be to those who are used to being physically active, and uses that knowledge to direct their recovery.

“Often times I remind my patients that the way they got themselves into pain is also the way they are going to get out it, she said. I stress exercise, physical therapy, good diet and an overall healthy lifestyle to help my patients get to the best they can be, whether that means being able to run a marathon or simply going for a walk after dinner without pain.” Dr. Mejia

Dr. Mejia has extensive experience in interventional treatments, including epidurals, trigger point injections, selected nerve root injections, and platelet rich plasma therapy.
