Nick Caparelli – Shoulder Pain

Nick Caparelli has always been active in sports and a workout enthusiast. But in 2008, years of activity and exercise caught up to him. Wear on his left shoulder had caused a torn rotator cuff and labral tear. Appreciating the magnitude of the situation, Nick consulted an orthopaedic surgeon, who confirmed the damage and recommended surgery to repair it.

“I wrestled with the idea of surgery for a long time, but still could not bring myself to undergo the procedure. I was reluctant to undergo the long rehabilitation process that surgery would entail.” In the meantime, the pain increased significantly, impacting his sleep, his business, his exercise programs and his quality of life. Lifting even a five pound dumb bell was an excruciating proposition.

But help was soon on the way. As Nick relates it, “A friend overheard me describing my condition and recommended National Spine & Pain Centers. I made an appointment, and the rest is history.”

A National Spine & Pain Centers physician examined Nick and suggested a regimen of prolotherapy to strengthen and stabilize his ligaments. Then, two sessions of platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, several weeks apart, strengthened and repaired Nick’s shoulder, so that today he is lifting 70 pound dumb bells and actively instructing his martial arts students.

“The outcome has been remarkable – beyond my wildest dreams,” Nick states. “The pain I experienced is gone, my strength and flexibility have returned and with it my confidence. I am glad that National Spine & Pain Centers was there for me.”

Mr. Caparelli has been so moved by his treatment outcome that he has referred many others to National Spine & Pain Centers. “It’s nice to know that non-surgical options exist. I was treated well by everyone – from the front office staff to the physician. Thanks, National Spine & Pain Centers!”
