Rebecca H.'s Story

"In all my life, I’ve never had a doctor spend so much time with me to answer my questions… listen to me…and take what I had to say seriously."
You’re going to laugh, but I’d have to say vacuuming.” It may seem mundane, but for Rebecca H., a veteran school teacher, wife, and mother, vacuuming is cathartic. And it’s among the simple pleasures she missed most due to decades of debilitating, unresolved pain. “Chronic pain doesn’t discriminate. Whether you’re swimming, dancing, working, walking, or simply vacuuming…it hurts to move. You don’t get to choose what activities are spared. You lose it all.”
Her lifelong legacy of pain began early on with sciatica. Then, a work-related incident resulted in strained back muscles. The onset of fibromyalgia at the age of 30 was the final straw. Depressed, and tired of not being able to sit in a chair comfortably or on a bed, she was motivated to find answers. “I didn’t know what my options were, and no one could tell me. I was desperate for just an explanation. Hoping beyond hope there was a simple answer.”
The answers she sought were finally found when she was referred to National Spine & Pain Centers. Rebecca was assessed by one of NSPC’s expert pain specialists who tailored a unique treatment plan for her conditions, including prolotherapy, epidurals, and Radiofrequency Neurotomy. Her particular set of conditions will never be 100 percent resolved, but she’s regained 80 to 90 percent of what she lost.
“In all my life, I’ve never had a doctor spend so much time with me to answer my questions… listen to me…and take what I had to say seriously. His immediate and vested interest in my health and wanting to resolve my pain was so sincere, and so appreciated, I can’t tell you how much it meant to me.
