Danielle Cherrick, MD

Dr. Danielle S. Cherrick is a physician at National Spine & Pain Centers’ Alexandria and Arlington, VA centers. She specializes in several areas, including electrodiagnostic evaluation, chronic pain conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome and fibromyalgia, and management of spasticity associated with neurologic conditions.

Dr. Cherrick’s journey to a career in medicine began early—very early in fact. “I remember making rounds with my dad when I was four years old,” she said. Cherrick’s father is Dr. Abraham A. Cherrick, one of the founding practitioners of National Spine & Pain Centers. “There is not a day that goes by that I don’t find myself thinking, ‘What would my father do in this situation?’ I channel a lot of his teachings in my practice. He taught me that the basis of every patient relationship is listening and learning.”

After earning her medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, Dr. Cherrick completed her internship and residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore where she served as the chief resident for physical medicine and rehabilitation. It was in that role that she developed her belief that if her patients were willing to work hard for their recovery, they deserve the same from their doctor. “I am very focused on quality of life; I want to know how they lived before they were injured and what they hope to gain from their treatment.”

Dr. Cherrick has also served on the training staff for the Catholic University football team and the Towson University women’s basketball team. Whether she is treating adults or adolescents, athletes or non-athletes, Dr. Cherrick never sways from her commitment to compassionate care. “I feel strongly about establishing long-lasting relationships with my patients so that they feel comfortable calling me when they need support.”

In her free time, Dr. Cherrick enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and extended family, running, cooking, hosting company, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.

What Patients Are Saying

“I can’t thank Dr. Cherrick enough. With my pain now at a two on a scale of 10, I am even looking for a part-time job. I’m so excited. I even took my granddaughter bowling—and I beat her!” – Deb (view full story)
