Andrew Medvedovsky, MD

Dr. Andrew Medvedovsky believes the fundamental core of being a doctor is to help patients reduce their pain and suffering.

“There is no other specialty that truly lives by that principle every day and have the capability to impact someone’s quality of life and well being,” he said.

After earning a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College in New York, Dr. Medvedovsky received his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica.

He completed his internship in internal medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in New York. Virginia Commonwealth University served as the site for both his residency in neurology and fellowship in pain medicine.

With the constant evolution of the pain management field, Dr. Medvedovsky is excited about the crossover of interventional pain management into minimally invasive surgery. This procedure “will eliminate the need for patients to undergo massive spinal fusions that often time lead to more long-term pain and recovery,” he said.

Comprehensive, individualized treatment plans are put together for every patient with medication management as an important component. “The key is educating patients about alternative treatment options, creating trust between physician and patient and gradually working toward the goals of reducing long-term opioid use,” he said.

Developing rapport with the patient, Dr. Medvedovsky notes, is the most important part of providing quality care. “Patients have to trust us and feel confident in our skill level to perform the highly risky procedures that will help them reduce pain and suffering.”

Starting with the ladies at the front desk who welcomed me in a professional manner & a smile. Then the lady who brought me to my exam room & took my vitals for the doctor. Then there’s the doctor who doesn’t rush in & out, instead he sits & talks to me about what is happening & how I feel. Then we talk about things we can do to try & make things better without adding more medication. I like that Dr. Medvedovsky takes the time to talk about what’s happening & possible solutions without just saying here take this prescription.
