Testimonial: Back Pain

Lani Bacharach, Social Worker
In 1996, I was in a car accident. As a result, I had shoulder, neck and lower back pain. I lost 20% of the strength in my left arm. For two years, I went to physical therapy and a chiropractor. The physical therapy was fantastic because I regained the strength in my arm. The chiropractor was another story. The first chiropractor I saw tried his best to keep me as comfortable as possible. He did not make any promises about permanently getting rid of my pain. I went to him three time a week for seven years. I then moved from NJ to VA and decided that I was not going to go to another chiropractor. It was a waste of money. Well, that did not last long because I was in constant pain and did not know where else to turn, so I found another chiropractor. This doctor promised that he would be able to rid me of my pain within one year. He had taken x-rays and showed me where the problems were. I thought, he should know since he went to medical school and I did not. I went three times a week for one year. I will admit that he helped my neck pain, but nothing else.

I decided to terminate my professional relationship with the chiropractor. In 2007, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Carrying her in my womb was difficult for me as I was quite front heavy and had back pain to start with. After delivering my daughter, my back pain became worse. I saw my primary care doctor, Dr. Drew and told her about my back pain. She recommended that I meet with Dr. Friedlis. At first, I laughed at her because out of all the techniques used by the chiropractors, nothing worked. I wondered what Dr. Friedlis could do for me. A few months after my physical with Dr. Drew, I decided to go to see Dr. Friedlis. Besides his great bedside manner (he is quite funny), he seemed to know what he was talking about. I checked the website for Capitol Spine and was impressed. I decided to go ahead with what Dr. Friedlis recommended, which was prolotherapy. After six months of therapy, my lower back pain is resolved. I admit I did not ask him to look at my shoulder (I may do that at some point if it gets worse). It is amazing how much better I feel. I do not wake up in pain anymore. I can carry my 13 month old without worrying about my back. I feel like a new person again. I could not have felt this way without the help and support from the Capitol Spine staff and Dr. Friedlis.
