Prolotherapy

Testimonial: Susan Sanders

Susan is always on the go. A self-described doer, Susan never sits still for long. She loves to work out, loves to work in the yard, and her passion is quilting. Whether it's helping her husband with a project for the house or helping a friend, Susan loves to be busy. By night, Susan is a server in a very popular Burke restaurant. From visiting with customers to lifting trays, Susan loves the opportunity her job affords her to interact with people and keep busy doing something she really enjoys.

All that changed when the pain began and Susan's world was turned upside down. It was 2004 and Susan began having pain in her leg. As the pain got progressively worse, Susan began having severe pain in her hip and her shoulder as well. The pain was unrelenting and it was taking over her life. Says Susan, "I was in terrible pain. It hurt to sit in the car, it hurt to stand, I was waking up several times a night, and I was just miserable. I was in pain all the time and it left me too tired to do anything other than the basics of day-to-day living."

For two years, Susan sought answers, but no one could figure out what was wrong. The constant pain was infringing on her life. "It drained me of all of my energy so that I had no personal life, I couldn't enjoy any of my former activities, or getting together with my friends and it was all I could do to go to work every night. It was hurting my home life because I was short-tempered and cranky. The pain had taken over my life. I was so frustrated."

Finally, a medical professional suggested that Susan see the doctors at Capitol Spine & Pain Centers. It was November 2006 and the two years of constant pain had taken their toll. After a thorough exam and tests, the doctors determined that Susan's problem was a hyper mobile Sacroiliac Joint and left shoulder and was a great candidate for prolotherapy. "This was a huge decision. The doctors said I would need to have between 6 and 10 prolotherapy treatments over the course of about a year. After starting the series of prolotherapy treatments combined with physical therapy, I started feeling better. I am very glad that I made the decision to have the treatments and get my life back.

Today, Susan is pain free and her life is back to normal. "I can go, go, go. Now, my outlook on life is great. I have the energy to do everything I want to do. I'm strong, again, and back to working out. I'm gardening, I'm quilting, and I'm constantly on the run between work, home projects, and friends. Thank you, Capitol Spine & Pain Centers, for putting me back together, again."
