Testimonial: Melanie Metcalf
Treatment: Disc Regeneration (DRT)
Melanie Metcalf began to experience pain in June 2007, after she fell down a flight of steps. In the days that followed, her ankle and back hurt badly enough to seek medical care. First stop: A chiropractor, who adjusted her SI joint, but the pain still ebbed and flowed and became constant. Second stop: An orthopedist, who began with a trial of physical therapy and SI injections but when there wasn't relief recommended surgery as the solution to her condition.
Still in pain, and hoping to pursue non-surgical options, Metcalf scheduled her next appointment. Final stop: Capitol Spine & Pain Centers. A thorough examination by CSPC’s expert pain specialists revealed weakened ligaments and the possibility of a torn disc, so a regimen of prolotherapy and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy was employed to bring Metcalf some immediate relief.
Ultimately, a discography exam confirmed the suspected disc tear, and Disc Regenerative Therapy (DRT) was performed on her twice. As a result, the pain has decreased significantly and Metcalf has become increasingly active. “I am now a participant in my children’s activities, not just an observer,” applauded a jubilant Metcalf. “I can drive for extended periods of time, am exercising four times a week, and recently went snorkeling. I got my life back." Metcalf appreciated the customer service she received at CSPC. “I was treated like a person, not a number. When I talked, the doctor actually listened.”
