Mayo F. Friedlis, MD

Dr. Friedlis is one of a few physicians trained to perform Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Since joining Capitol Spine & Pain Centers in 1983, Dr. Friedlis has helped expand this practice into the thriving, nationally recognized leader it is today. He is passionate about the science of pain management and committed to delivering the most effective therapy to each of his patients. In his 25+ years of experience, he has actively enhanced his knowledge and expertise through continuing education, training and research.

In 1987, Dr. Friedlis introduced the advanced technique of prolotherapy into the practice. Today he is considered the foremost practitioner in the region and has presented findings from his prolotherapy research at two world conferences. Sponsored by the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine, Dr. Friedlis coordinated a medical relief trip in November 2007 that provided prolotherapy to over 500 individuals in central Mexico.

Dr. Friedlis has also begun training in the use of stem cell therapies for musculoskeletal injuries and looks forward to making this next level of regenerative therapy available to our patients. In 2005, Dr. Friedlis was voted among WASHINGTONIAN Magazine's Top Doctors in Pain Management. He is currently serving as President of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine.
