Lori E. Nelson, MD
A native of southern California, Dr. Nelson joins Capitol Spine & Pain Centers after working as an Attending Physician at Performance Spine and Sports Physicians in Pottstown, PA where she mastered her skills in pain management and interventional spine procedures and helped train other fellows in the specialty.
Dr. Nelson’s educational pursuits have taken her all over the country. She received her medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Drexel University – Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia and completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Boston Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a Fellow of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
An advocate for patient education, Dr. Nelson believes strongly in empowering patients to actively participate in the management of their pain. She is dedicated to helping patients fully understand their diagnoses, listening to their concerns, and guiding them through available treatment options, so they can make informed decisions about their care.
Trained in a wide array of interventional treatments for acute and chronic pain, Dr. Nelson’s skill-set includes fluoroscopically-guided cervical and lumbar spine procedures, radiofrequency neurotomy, and joint injections. She actively collaborates with her colleagues and other medical specialists, including referring physicians and therapists, to guarantee that patients are receiving the most comprehensive treatment strategy possible.
Dr. Nelson maintains active memberships in the International Spine Interventional Society, American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the American Academy of Pain Management.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Nelson finds pleasure in spending time with family and friends, travelling, and community service
