Christopher M. Gay, MD

Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Gay brings southern charm and northern wit to Capitol Spine and Pain Centers. After receiving his undergraduate and medical degrees from Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill respectively, he relocated to New York City, where he completed his residency and fellowship training at New York’s Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia University, one of the top medical centers in the country.

During his Pain Fellowship, Dr. Gay treated patients with myriad pain-related conditions– from those with persistent pain after surgery to those with previously undiagnosed pathology. He uses an evidence-based, comprehensive, patient-centered approach to caring for patients and utilizes his discriminative diagnostic skills to tailor treatments and recommendations to his patient’s individual conditions. Dr. Gay understands that no two people experience pain alike, so a blanket approach to pain management is ill-advised and ineffective.

Professionally, Dr. Gay enjoys speaking with peers, primary care professionals, and community groups about the latest innovations in the field of pain management as well as performing office consultations and fluoroscopically guided procedures. He believes that understanding pain conditions and how they are treated is the first and foremost step in empowering patients to take control of their pain. He also maintains close communication with referring physicians to ensure each patient receives collaborative continuity of care.

When he’s not at work, Dr. Gay finds pleasure in spending time with his family and honing his talents as an avid musician.
