Ammar Y. Divan, MD

Dr. Divan joined Capitol Spine & Pain Centers in 2011 after completing a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Divan is a board certified anesthesiologist and served as chief resident during his training. He is a graduate of The School of Medicine at Georgetown University and is excited to return to the Washington, DC area to practice and support the community.

Dr. Divan believes in a multidisciplinary approach to managing spinal pain and other pain syndromes. He brings a comprehensive, individually tailored approach to caring for his patients and aims not only to relieve pain but also to restore function and quality of life. As an interventional physician, Dr. Divan incorporates the latest techniques and state-of-the-art technologies into his practice.

Dr. Divan is trained in a variety of fluoroscopic-guided procedures including: epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, vertebroplasty, and discography. He is also trained in performing peripheral nerve blocks, and joint injections for extremity pain, celiac plexus and hypogastric plexus blocks for abdominal/pelvic pain, and sympathetic blocks to treat complex regional pain syndrome. He is committed to continually improving and expanding his scope of practice and annually attends a variety of advanced conferences and work-shops to further hone his craft.

Dr. Divan maintains membership in multiple professional organizations.

An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Divan enjoys weekend hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains, running, barbequing. He also is an avid football fan.
