Capitol Spine & Pain Centers is pleased to announce that Dr. Ignacio Badiola and Dr. Amgad Abdou, two seasoned and highly skilled interventional pain specialists, have joined the practice.

Ignacio J. Badiola, MD

Ignacio J. Badiola, MDDr. Badiola joins Capitol Spine and Pain Centers from California, where he completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management, as well as his anesthesiology residency, at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to these advanced pursuits, Dr. Badiola earned his medical degree at the University of Miami, and completed a General Surgery internship at the University of Florida, where he was recognized as "Surgical Intern of the Year."

Board certified in Anesthesiology and board eligible for Interventional Pain Management, Dr. Badiola’s full range of fluoroscopic-guided procedures includes: various blocks for peripheral nerve pain, radio frequency ablation, epidural injections, and vertebroplasty. He also has an interest in interventional procedures to treat abdominal and pelvic pain. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Badiola believes in a comprehensive approach to pain management, and utilizing the latest interventional and non-surgical techniques to relieve a patient’s pain and get them functional again as soon as possible.

Amgad W. Abdou, MD

Amgad W. Abdou, MDA seasoned interventional pain specialist, Dr. Abdou relocated to the DC metro area from Cleveland, Ohio, where he held the distinguished position of Medical Director for the Pain Management Center of Fairview Hospital. Board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, Dr. Abdou earned his medical and surgical degrees, as well as his Masters degree in Anesthesiology, from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed his anesthesiology residence and pain management fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, one of the nation’s premier training programs for interventional pain management.

An advocate for continuing education, Dr. Abdou is skilled in a variety of diagnostic specialties, including fluoroscopic-guided injections, radiofrequency ablations, and implantable devices. Fluent in Arabic, he believes the goal of pain management should be improving patients’ quality of life, and that a personalized, multi-disciplinary approach is the key to successful patient care programs.
