Capitol Spine & Pain Centers is pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher Gay and Dr. Ammar Divan have joined the practice. CSPC is now home to 22 of the area’s top pain specialists, a concentration of expertise unrivaled in the region.

Christopher M. Gay, MD

Christopher M. Gay, MDOriginally from North Carolina, Dr. Gay embodies a mix of southern charm and northern wit. An accomplished interventional pain specialist, he earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and subsequently completed his residency and fellowship training at New York’s Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia University, one of the preeminent medical centers in the country. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Gay understands that no two people experience pain alike, so he employs an evidence-based approach to tailor personalized treatment regimens for his patients’ individual conditions. He is well-versed in a wide range of diagnostic tests and procedures, and believes that understanding pain conditions and how they are treated is the foremost step in empowering patients to take control of their pain.

Ammar Y. Divan, MD

Ammar Y. Divan, MDBoard certified in Anesthesiology, Dr. Divan joined CSPC after completing a prestigious fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at Northwestern University. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Divan completed his internship and residency at New York Medical College in New York City, serving as chief resident during his training. As a graduate of the School of Medicine at Georgetown University, he is excited to return to the Washington, DC area to practice and support the community.

Regarded as a highly skilled pain specialist, Dr. Divan believes in a multidisciplinary approach to managing pain syndromes. A proponent of continuing education, he attends conferences and workshops to keep abreast of advances in interventional techniques and state-of-the-art technologies that can enhance the patient experience. He advocates strong doctor-patient relationships as the foundation for tailoring individual treatment plans that not only relieve a patient’s pain, but also restore function and quality of life.
